The 5th Annual Savannah Book Festival is this weekend, February 15-19, and it is promising to be the best yet. This year's theme is "Lose Yourself in Books!", and with authors including Pat Conroy, Stewart O'Nan, Brad Thor and Walter Isaacson it will be easy to do just that. Of course the big news this year is closing ceremony speaker Stephen King, whose event is ticketed and sold out in just 2 hours.
Saturday, February 18th is the main day of the festival and most events are free to the public. Six venues around Telfair Square in downtown Savannah will host 40 authors in various genres such as history, poetry, fiction, and memoir. Saturday's events will also be televised on C-SPAN/Book TV. If you missed out on tickets to the Stephen King event, you can still enjoy the ice cream flavor created at Leopold's in his honor - "King's Ice Scream". There are plenty of fine authors discussing their work and signing books at this splendid event so be sure to carve out a bit of time this weekend to enjoy the Savannah Book Festival.
